GAZA EMERGENCY: Maintaining Momentum

As we commemorate 2 months of ongoing conflict, the needs in Gaza have only grown worse. For the sake of 2.2 million men, women and children, we have to maintain momentum. Action For Humanity have been on the ground since 2021, providing assistance to support the needs of as many as possible. Your voice, and your support is invaluable in helping us protect innocent lives.

What is the humanitarian situation in Gaza

Tens of thousands have been killed in the ongoing siege in Gaza, leaving nearly 2 million people displaced from their homes.

50% of the 2.1 million people in Gaza are under the age of 18. They haven’t been spared from the horrific violence of the past months. Every day, injured children are brought in to the dwindling hospitals in Gaza, where they are left to wait hours for inadequate healthcare. Doctors, under the most extreme conditions, are having to operate on children without anaesthetic, often in the dark as power supply is systematically targeted by airstrikes.

Crippled power systems have left the region without the basic tools needed for survival, and regular telecommunications blackouts are weaponising silence so that atrocities can be carried out without any witnesses or recourse.

As the war now threatens to spill out into regional disputes, so far in both Yemen and Lebanon, the crisis is quickly reaching a point in which no NGOs or even national governments have the capacity to help those who need it.

Enough is enough. We’ve called countless times for support from our World Leaders and the wider international community for an enforced ceasefire, and still nothing has been done.

How has Action For Humanity worked in life and death situations in Gaza

In spite of the incredible challenges that lay ahead for us and the people of Gaza, we are not deterred. We have continued our distributions, supporting over 100,000 people to access food, shelter, medicine, and baby supplies, and have used our platform to champion the voices of those on the ground directly affected by this barbaric conflict.

We have been on the ground in Gaza since 2021, helping to grow communities to be more resilient to the challenges they have historically faced. Thanks to our work in crisis zones around the world – like Syria, Yemen, and Afghanistan – our team in the region was as prepared as possible to coordinate our humanitarian response.

By prioritising our own adaptability as well as the immediate needs present, our team has been able to move rapidly, taking advantage of any opportunity for response – whether that be through warm meals, water distribution, or the chance to support mothers with access to baby formula.

How you can help people in Gaza

It is vital that we don’t lose momentum in our efforts. As we move further in 2024, the conflict isn’t showing signs of slowing down. Every day we see new tragedies. Hospitals and shelters are still at risk of airstrike, and experts estimate that in coming weeks, hundreds of thousands will be at risk of death due to extreme starvation.

There are countless ways you can help

Use your social media to call out injustice where you see it, involve yourself in grassroots movements, and donate to our distribution efforts.

Join your local protests and demand justice for innocent civilians caught up in the violence.

Above all, continue to listen to the people who have been directly impacted by the crisis. Empathy is an incredible tool in our efforts for a peaceful and resilient world.

We can’t do this without you.
