Here at Action For Humanity (AFH), we are looking for Finance Coordinator to join us at our International Office in Manchester. You will join us on a full-time basis and in return you will receive a competitive annual salary of £33,000.

The Finance Coordinator will play a key role in supporting both Corporate Finance and Programmes Finance functions. This position requires a highly organised, analytical, and adaptable professional capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously. The ideal candidate will be experienced in financial reporting, data analysis, and general accounting practices, ensuring timely and accurate financial information to support decision-making at all levels.

Your key responsibilities will include:

Financial Reporting & Analysis

•    Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for internal and external stakeholders. 
•    Analyse variances and trends against budget and forecasts; provide insightful commentary. 
•    Support preparation of donor financial reports in line with compliance requirements. 
•    Consolidate financial data across programs and departments for organisational reporting. 
 
Budgeting & Forecasting

•    Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and mid-year reforecasts. 
•    Monitor budget implementation and report on variances with clear action points.

Accounting & Transactions 

•    Ensure timely and accurate processing of financial transactions (payments, journals, accruals). 
•    Maintain general ledger and ensure proper coding of income and expenditure. 
•    Support month-end and year-end closing processes, including reconciliations. 

Compliance & Controls

•    Ensure adherence to organisational financial policies, donor regulations, and statutory requirements. 
•    Support internal and external audit processes by preparing documentation and responding to queries. 
•    Maintain and improve internal financial controls and procedures. 

Multi-Tasking & Cross-Functional Support 

•    Provide financial support across both Corporate and Programme areas. 
•    Flexibly support team needs such as procurement, grant monitoring, or capacity-building. 
•    Serve as a financial liaison between departments to ensure efficient information flow. 
 
Systems & Data Management 

•    Use financial systems (e.g., QuickBooks, sage) to maintain accurate records. 
•    Extract, clean, and analyse financial data for management decision-making. 
•    Support digitisation and automation of reporting and finance processes where possible. 
•    Preparing accurate weekly payment runs  
•    Managing purchase ledger invoices, expenses, and credit notes. 
•    Preparing and posting weekly and monthly supplier payment runs in GBP and other currencies. 
•    Reconciling supplier statements and bank accounts, resolving any discrepancies. 
•    Reconciling monthly credit card accounts and post to relevant expenditure codes 
•    Assisting with accruals, prepayments, and month-end processing leading to management accounts. 
•    Participating in the preparation of statutory accounts and compile relevant schedules and analysis.  
•    Maintaining Fixed Asset Register 
•    Managing the accounts payable inbox 
•    Ensure compliance with SORP, FRS 102 and other charity finance legislation.  
•    Ensure appropriate backups of financial information are stored appropriately.

 

What we are looking for in our Finance Coordinator

Education

•    Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or related field (ie AAT)

Experience

•    Minimum three years’ experience in accounting and finance 
•    Extensive experience in account reconciliation 
•    SORP, FRS 102 and charity finance and legislation

•    Ability to critically appraise the financial systems, the processes and controls and to identify and implement changes to the processes and procedures to strengthen the control environment  
•    Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills, inter-cultural sensitivity and confidence in dealing with a wide range of partners.
•    Ability to work well across different departments and stakeholders  
•    Self-motivated to learn new concepts and participate in new projects.  
•    Excellent IT skills including Microsoft Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint  
•    Ability to work variable hours, with occasional weekend and evening work   
•    Ability to Supervise and prioritise a varied workload and competing deadlines to meet commitments  
•    To be committed to the work of Action for Humanity and to promote teamwork.   
•    To work in accordance with the organisation’s policies and procedures.   
•    Attend regular meetings with the line manager.  
•    Provide verbal and written reports as may be required by the HOF.  

Languages

•    Fluent in English, verbal and written. 
•    Knowledge of Arabic, Urdu, French are desirable
