Main Job Purpose

The Accounts Payable Officer is responsible for supporting key payments processes within the Finance 
department. The main work will relate to Accounts Payable, including the processing of payments for the UK office ensuring internal controls and bookkeeping standards are adhered to. Other aspects of the role will involve supporting to collate data, prepare reports, and support with preparing accounts.


Accountabilities

• Conducting timely payment processing for International Office payments, in line with departmental 
timeframes
• Conducting timely payment processing relating to country offices and implementing partners, in line with 
contractual obligations
• Maintaining and reconciling accurate inter-company accounts
• Maintain accurate documentation and accounting records
• Preparation of month end accounts, including bank reconciliation for all currency accounts
• Act as a liaison point for key stakeholders relating to International Office finance matters

Other

• To provide other verbal and written reports as may be required by management
• To conduct other reasonable ad hoc duties as may be required
• To act as a trainer and point of contact to other colleagues, including Finance Assistant
• To attend regular meetings with the line manager
• To work in accordance with the organisation’s policies and procedures
• To commit to continuous training and development


Work Environment

• 95% indoors / office based
• 5% outdoors / travel / events / work trips etc. 
Job Requirements
Education • Bachelor’s degree in finance or related field (essential)
Experience • 2+ years’ experience in a similar role (essential)


Skills

• Attention to detail
• Financial reporting, management accounting
• Advanced user of Excel and account software systems e.g. Sage
• Good IT skills including MS Office
• Presentation, communication and influencing 
• Inter-cultural sensitivity, interpersonal, and relationship building skills
• Translating complex data into accessible reports
• Time management and prioritisation of workload to meet deadlines


Languages

• Strong written and spoken English essential
