Lebanon Situation Now Critical as Airstrikes Intensify

Lebanon is facing intense and sustained bombardment, with civilians caught in the escalation.

In recent days, Israeli attacks across the country have killed 182 people and injured at least 890. In just over five weeks, the toll has risen to 1,739 killed and 5,873 wounded.*

Airstrikes continue to hit multiple locations across Lebanon, with the situation described as “critical” by the United Nations.

Displacement on a Massive Scale

The escalation has forced families to flee their homes once again. Over 1.2 million people, nearly one in five, are now displaced across the country. Many are seeking shelter in schools and public buildings, often arriving with little more than the clothes they are wearing.

For communities already facing economic collapse, this latest wave of violence has pushed families further into crisis. Access to food, clean water, and medical care is becoming increasingly limited, while humanitarian needs continue to rise rapidly.

“Catastrophic” Conditions on the Ground

Humanitarian workers have described the situation as deteriorating by the hour.

Badih Gazzahwi, humanitarian leader with Action For Humanity’s partner in Lebanon, described recent developments as “catastrophic,” reporting that more than 100 airstrikes targeted locations across the country within minutes.

Families arriving in safer areas are doing so with nothing, no income, no supplies, and no certainty about what comes next.

A Region Under Huge Pressure

The escalation in Lebanon comes amid wider instability across the Middle East. Recent developments have raised fears of a broader regional crisis, placing additional strain on communities already affected by conflict, displacement, and economic hardship. Across Lebanon and neighbouring countries, families are increasingly reliant on humanitarian support to meet their most basic needs.
