HELP QAMAR
WALK AGAIN
“Our house is gone, but something more important remains — my daughter.”
OUR LIFE CHANGED IN A MOMENT
"My name is Huda Al-Kurdi. I am 29 years old and a mother of three children."
Before the war, our life was normal. We had a home, and my children were together in one place. I was preparing my eldest daughter, Qamar, to start first grade. Our days were simple and full of hope.
During the war, two of my children were injured. My daughter Qamar lost her leg, and my daughter Toleen suffered a head injury that affected her concentration and vision. Our home was destroyed, and our lives changed completely.
I brought my children to Deir al-Balah hoping Qamar could travel abroad to receive a prosthetic limb. But the border crossing remains closed, and leaving Gaza is extremely difficult. For now, I continue physical therapy to keep her leg ready for the day she can receive treatment.
I travel frequently to Khan Younis so my daughters can attend therapy sessions, despite financial hardship and the high cost of transportation. Proper nutrition is also difficult to find, yet it is essential for children recovering from injuries.
This Ramadan feels very different. My husband remains in the north, and the children miss him deeply. I have no source of income and worry about how we will manage in the coming months.
My greatest wish is to see Qamar walk again — to see her play, go to school, and live like other children. Our home may be gone, but my hope for my daughter remains.
