WORK IN LEBANON
Nearly a third of Lebanon’s population is facing acute food insecurity following the escalation of conflict in late 2024, displacing 1.3 million people.
What's Going On?
Lebanon is currently experiencing severe economic and humanitarian crises. Widespread poverty, economic downturns, and the ongoing conflict with Israel have resulted in significant casualties and displacement.
Over 80% of the population lives in poverty, and nearly 36% are in extreme poverty. Recent escalations have left thousands needing immediate assistance, including food, water, shelter, and medical care.

OUR COMMUNITY KITCHENS
The Giving Kitchen Project supplies tens of thousands of hot meals in Lebanon. The project is designed to meet immediate needs and respect the dignity of each family by providing culturally appropriate and nutritious food that aligns with traditions.
We’ve selected the best ingredients sourced locally. We create opportunities for those who are displaced and far from home, allowing them to share the blessings of Ramadan and support their families.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does AFH provide education to students in Lebanon?
Through our Education Programme, we provide hundreds of refugee students with access to education. This intervention focuses on core subjects: Arabic, Mathematics, English, Sciences, and Geography.
The students targeted are primary school-aged children between the ages of 8 and 14. Additional courses are tailored to the needs of Syrian refugee children, including psychosocial support programmes, resilience, and critical thinking. The project increases students’ knowledge of computer science and develops their innovation and creativity skills, with computer, applied science, and robotics laboratories available.
How does AFH provide access to healthcare?
122 Syrian refugee children have benefitted from our regular medical projects. These include orthopaedic surgeries and consultations for children who suffer from hip dislocation and bone malformation.
Following years of conflict, the health sector is in critical condition, with supplies dangerously low and significant gaps in emergency care. Our medical response is crucial in bridging these gaps and ensuring everyone can access the treatment they need.
How does AFH provide orphan and family welfare?
Lebanon’s economy is in a critical condition due to compounded crises. Through our Child and Family Welfare programme, we support thousands of people through cash grants. Amid spiralling poverty, this is crucial in boosting resilience and helping families access the basics.
