Sadaqah: A Charitable Act
Sadaqah is a voluntary charitable act that is an important part of Islam. The word sadaqah literally translates to "righteousness" and is derived from the Arabic word sidq, which means "sincerity”. There is no minimum amount of Sadaqah that must be given and no requirement to give regularly. Sadaqah is not judged by how big or small the act is, but by how it helps people. It is considered a sign of sincere faith and is believed to cleanse the soul and ward off calamities. Any act of kindness or support extended to other beings (including animals) for the sake of Allah (SWT), can be considered a Sadaqah or charity.
