Rebuilding Education in Saqba, Damascus
Education is more than lessons and textbooks. It is protection. It is dignity. It is a doorway to a future that conflict tried to close.
In Saqba, on the eastern edge of Damascus, Action For Humanity has rehabilitated a full-scale school, not just a building, but a living space where childhood can continue. After years of disruption, classrooms are once again places of learning, laughter, and possibility. Where there was damage and uncertainty, there is now structure, safety, and purpose.
This project is part of our long-term commitment to education as a foundation of recovery. When children can learn, communities can heal, rebuild, and move forward with confidence.
A School Rebuilt With Care
The school has been fully renovated and equipped to serve both students and educators, creating a clean, functional, and dignified learning environment. The rehabilitation delivered 14 fully equipped classrooms, furnished to meet modern educational needs, alongside four administrative offices to support teachers and the day-to-day running of the school.
Comprehensive construction and refurbishment works were carried out to the highest health and safety standards, while structural repairs and upgrades ensured the building is safe, durable, and fit for daily learning. Every element of the work was guided by a single priority: protecting the wellbeing of students and teachers, and safeguarding the continuity of education for every child who walks through these doors.
Impact at a Glance
In its first phase, the school has already welcomed 560 students back into learning.
Children and teachers now have a safe, inclusive space where they can focus, participate, and thrive. Improved conditions mean better attendance, greater concentration, and restored dignity in education. This is not a short-term fix; it is a long-term investment in Saqba’s future. Classrooms that were once damaged and silent are now alive with voices, ideas, and renewed hope.
Why Education Matters in Crisis
For children growing up amid conflict, education is a lifeline.
School offers stability in uncertainty, protection from harm, and a sense of normality when everything else feels fragile. It nurtures emotional resilience and builds the skills children need for independence and recovery.
By rebuilding schools, we are not only repairing walls, we are restoring opportunity, confidence, and the belief that a better future remains within reach.
Our Commitment Forward
Action For Humanity continues to invest in sustainable education projects in crisis-affected communities, ensuring no child is left behind due to circumstances beyond their control.
This school in Saqba stands as a testament to what can be achieved when communities, educators, and supporters come together with shared purpose.
