Action For Humanity – Legal Disclaimer and Terms of Participation

By applying for an international deployment with Action For Humanity (AFH), I confirm that I have read, understood, and agree to the Terms & Conditions outlined below. I acknowledge that participation is conditional upon full compliance with organisational procedures, safeguarding protocols, security briefings, and pre-deployment requirements.
1. Acknowledgement of Risk & Responsibility
• I understand that international deployments may involve risk including travel disruption, illness, injury, exposure to humanitarian crisis settings, conflict areas, or unpredictable environments.
• I voluntarily accept responsibility for my safety and conduct while deployed.
• I will follow all guidance issued by AFH staff, deployment leads, security personnel, field offices, & partner organisations.
• I understand AFH, its staff & partners are not liable for injury, loss or damage unless caused by AFH negligence or where liability cannot be legally waived.
2. Medical Fitness, Screening & Insurance
• I confirm that I am medically and mentally fit for deployment and will disclose relevant health conditions, medication, allergies or accessibility needs.
• I understand that AFH may require medical clearance, vaccinations or proof of fitness before travel.
• I acknowledge that comprehensive travel, medical and emergency insurance is mandatory, covering accident, evacuation, hospitalisation and crisis response.
• I accept responsibility for my personal wellbeing, hydration, medication management and adherence to health briefings.
3. Consent to Medical Treatment
• I consent to emergency medical treatment if required during deployment.
• I authorise qualified professionals to access my medical information where necessary to protect life or health.
• In the event that I cannot communicate or make decisions, I agree that AFH staff may act in my best interests until medical care is reached.
4. Deployment Alteration, Suspension or Cancellation
• I understand that deployments may be adjusted, delayed or cancelled due to:
– security changes
– political instability
– conflict escalation
– disease outbreaks
– travel restrictions
– environmental or logistical challenges
• Itineraries, visa requirements, accommodation or in-country movement may change at short notice for safety reasons.
• AFH reserves the right to remove a participant from deployment if behaviour, safety-compliance, attitude, medical condition or conduct poses risk to themselves, others or the mission.
5. Safeguarding, Dignity & Responsible Conduct
• I agree to uphold AFH safeguarding, anti-exploitation and anti-harassment standards at all times.
• I understand that inappropriate behaviour, cultural insensitivity, discrimination or disrespect towards communities may result in immediate removal from deployment.
• I will not photograph, film or interview beneficiaries without explicit AFH permission.
• All media captured must align with AFH’s ethical content guidelines, protecting dignity, privacy and Islamic humanitarian values.
6. Photography, Media & Communications
• I grant AFH permission to capture and use photographs/video of deployment activity for reporting, awareness, and fundraising purposes.
• I understand that personal content created by me in-country remains subject to review and may be restricted if deemed unsafe, unethical or misrepresentative.
• I will not live-stream or publish sensitive content without AFH approval.
7. Fundraising & Financial Responsibility
• I understand deployments may carry a fundraising requirement and agree to meet minimum targets within deadlines set by AFH.
• I accept responsibility for travel costs, visas, and personal expenses unless explicitly covered or subsidised.
• Failure to meet fundraising expectations may result in removal from the deployment.
8. Eligibility
• I confirm I am aged 18 or above when travelling, unless otherwise agreed with parental/legal guardian consent & AFH approval.
• If registering on behalf of another individual, I confirm I have the legal authority to do so and accept responsibility for their compliance.
9. Final Declaration
By registering for deployment, I confirm:

✓ I agree to adhere to AFH safety, safeguarding, media and conduct standards.
✓ I understand my role is to respectfully support humanitarian objectives, not act independently or outside programme guidance.
