WILDFIRE EMERGENCY RESPONSE

Syria’s western coastal region has been devastated by fast-moving wildfires. Action For Humanity has launched a rapid response.

OUR EMERGENCY RESPONSE

We are rapidly identifying critical needs, delivering targeted support to the communities most affected. This includes emergency water supplies, fuel to frontline machinery, and mobilising trained volunteers to assist with containment and relief efforts. Our emergency response teams are ensuring that humanitarian aid reaches those in urgent need as quickly and efficiently as possible.

IMMEDIATE NEEDS

Local Civil Defence teams have outlined a critical list of immediate requirements to sustain their operations and support affected communities:

Water Tankers

Large-capacity water tankers are urgently needed to supply continuous water for firefighting efforts in remote areas.

With limited access to natural water sources and damaged infrastructure, mobile tankers are essential for both extinguishing fires and supporting displaced communities with clean water.

Heavy Machinery

Bulldozers and excavators are required to create firebreaks, clear debris, and open access routes blocked by fallen trees and rubble.

These machines are vital for controlling the fire’s spread and enabling emergency teams to reach isolated villages.

Fuel & Supply Lines

Heavy machinery and water tankers consume a significant amount of diesel, around 30 litres per hour.

Fuel is also needed for transport vehicles and civil defence units operating in the field. Without consistent fuel supply, life-saving operations risk grinding to a halt.

Fire Tools & Equipment

Essential firefighting tools such as hoses, nozzles, fire beaters, and saws are in short supply.

Many local teams are working with outdated or damaged equipment, limiting their ability to respond quickly or safely. New tools are urgently needed to expand the firefighting response.

Volunteers & Responders

Additional manpower is critical. Trained volunteers can help operate machinery, distribute aid, support evacuations, and provide first response in remote areas.

Local teams are overstretched and need trained responders to sustain these emergency operations over the coming weeks.

Food & Hygiene Kits

Displaced families are in immediate need of food, clean water, and basic hygiene items.

With limited access to cooking facilities and damaged supply routes, ready-to-eat meals and hygiene kits are a lifeline for those who have lost their homes or been cut off from essential services.

SCALING OUR RESPONSE

We are working to deliver an additional 10,000 litres of fuel, providing vital radio and communications equipment, and supporting the sourcing and maintenance of heavy machinery. These efforts will enable faster containment and improve access to remote, fire-affected areas as we expand food and water aid based on growing displacement.

PROVIDE EMERGENCY AID

A donation of over £100 can provide one family with a weeks worth of food, hygiene kits, and essential emergency supplies. Your support delivers life-saving assistance directly to those affected by the wildfires.

REACHING THOSE MOST AT RISK

Your contribution will support hundreds of families in the worst hit areas and help protect over 100,000 people in rural Latakia facing the threat of fire, smoke, and displacement.

OUR EMERGENCY ACTIVITIES

Action For Humanity is actively responding to the wildfire crisis through a coordinated network of emergency teams, community partners, and local organisations. Working closely with local government bodies, first responders, and civil defence units, we are delivering urgent support where it’s needed most.

WATER TRUCKING

Five high-capacity tankers from Idlib and Aleppo are delivering emergency water. 250 family water packages have also been distributed.

FUEL SUPPLY

Over 5,000 litres of diesel delivered. Fuel is prioritised for firebreak machinery and emergency vehicles.

FIREFIGHTING TOOLS

75 firefighting tools, including saws and fire beaters, have been provided to frontline emergency fire teams in Qastal Maaf and Kassab.

URGENT FOOD AID

500 ready meals, 200 hot meals, 400 fruit portions, and 500 bread bundles have been distributed to families and responders.

EMERGENCY HUBS

Two caravans have been installed for responders and volunteers. Food packs, non-food items, and hygiene kits are being distributed to displaced families.

COMMUNICATIONS

Radio repeaters and technical equipment are being deployed where limited connectivity is hindering emergency response efforts.

CURRENT SITUATION

Uncontrolled wildfires, driven by wind speeds exceeding 60 kilometres per hour, prolonged drought, and soaring temperatures, have torn through dense forests. The presence of landmines and unexploded ordnance is further complicating firefighting efforts.

This is the current situation:

+6 villages fully evacuated

+Thousands at risk, displacement ongoing

+Power outages reported after damage to Al-Basit power station

+Major access roads blocked

+Smoke reaching Hama and Idlib, prompting health warnings
