HOT MEALSTHE IMPACT WE ARE MAKING
As thousands of families were displaced across Gaza, many sought shelter in makeshift camps and temporary accommodations without access to cooking facilities or regular meals. In Deir Al Balah, Action For Humanity partnered with NATUF for Environment and Community Development to deliver a one-month emergency food project (September–October 2025), providing hot, ready-to-eat meals to 177 displaced families, around 1,062 people.
Over seven distribution days, a total of 7,437 nutritious meals were prepared and delivered through local kitchens. Each meal was freshly cooked and culturally appropriate, including dishes such as rice with vegetables and mujaddara. The intervention prioritised households with no access to cooking facilities, as well as female-headed families, people with disabilities, and the elderly.
By providing hot meals directly to displaced communities, the project not only addressed urgent food needs but also offered comfort, dignity, and a sense of normality during the crisis.

IMPROVING FOOD SECURITY
Beyond addressing immediate food needs, this project enhanced Deir Al Balah’s local food systems by involving community kitchens and building capacity in food safety, logistics, and coordination. The partnerships, lessons learned, and monitoring systems established will guide future emergency and recovery food interventions, ensuring ongoing resilience in Gaza’s humanitarian efforts.
