SAFE WATER IN SOUTH PUNJAB
Delivering solar water wells and hand pumps to bring clean, safe drinking water to vulnerable families in Pakistan.
PROJECT OVERVIEW
In South Punjab, Pakistan, communities face daily struggles to access safe water. Women and children walk long distances under rising temperatures, losing time for school and livelihoods while facing protection risks. Waterborne diseases, poor sanitation, and ageing infrastructure worsen health and malnutrition levels.
Action For Humanity Pakistan is responding by installing 7 solar-powered community water wells and 36 household/cluster hand pumps across three districts. This four-month project (Sep–Dec 2025) will provide 1,899 people, including children, women, and vulnerable households, with reliable access to clean water close to home.
Each solar-powered well will feature an elevated storage tank, night lighting for safety, and community oversight committees. Hand pumps will be installed for clusters of households, using durable, locally made components with flow rates of 30–35 L/min. Families will also receive training on safe water use, storage, and basic maintenance.
