Action For Humanity joined humanitarian leaders, donors and organisations from across the sector at AidEx 2026 in Geneva, strengthening relationships and exploring new opportunities for collaboration.

Representing the organisation, Nihad Sarmini, Head of Business Development & Partnerships, attended the two-day event to engage with existing and prospective partners, discuss funding opportunities and contribute to conversations about the future of humanitarian assistance. Nihad also spoke on a panel exploring Syria's recovery, highlighting the importance of connecting immediate humanitarian needs with longer-term investment and locally led solutions.

Supporting Syria's Recovery Through Local Leadership

As part of the event, Nihad participated in the panel discussion “Syria's Recovery at a Crossroads: Balancing Humanitarian Needs, Long-Term Investment and Local Capacity”.

The session explored how humanitarian assistance can support the restoration of essential services, economic opportunities and longer-term recovery in Syria. For Action For Humanity, strengthening the role of Syrian organisations and communities is central to this process. Local organisations bring knowledge, experience and relationships that are essential to developing responses shaped by the priorities of the people they serve.

As Syria continues its recovery, humanitarian organisations and international partners have an important role to play in supporting local capacity and investing in solutions that can deliver lasting benefits. Drawing on Action For Humanity's experience in Syria, Nihad contributed to discussions about connecting immediate assistance with longer-term recovery and ensuring Syrian communities have a meaningful role in shaping their future.

Strengthening Partnerships Across the Humanitarian Sector

Beyond the panel discussion, AidEx provided an opportunity to strengthen existing relationships and explore new partnerships across Syria, Gaza, Yemen and other areas where Action For Humanity works.

Throughout the event, discussions with humanitarian organisations, institutional donors and prospective partners focused on opportunities for joint programming, funding and strategic collaboration. These included conversations with organisations such as Qatar Charity, Christian Aid, Onsur, Première Urgence Internationale (PUI) and Jusoor, alongside other stakeholders from across the humanitarian sector.

A particular focus was identifying opportunities to strengthen locally led responses, develop partnerships between organisations and support programmes that address both immediate humanitarian needs and longer-term recovery. At a time when humanitarian needs remain high and resources are under increasing pressure, effective partnerships are essential to ensuring assistance reaches communities and supports their priorities.

Turning Networks Into Real-World Impact

Following AidEx 2026, Action For Humanity is continuing discussions with prospective partners and exploring opportunities to translate these engagements into practical collaboration. This includes potential funding opportunities, joint programming and partnerships that can strengthen humanitarian responses across the countries where we work.

As Action For Humanity marks its 15th anniversary, our participation at AidEx reflects our continued commitment to working alongside humanitarian partners and local communities. By strengthening relationships, sharing expertise and supporting locally led approaches, we aim to build partnerships that help communities respond to crises, recover and rebuild their futures.
