Cheadle Masjid Humanitarian Deployment to Jordan
For many supporters, donating is only the beginning. This summer, members of Cheadle Masjid travelled to Jordan with Action For Humanity to see first-hand how that generosity is changing lives.
Over three days, the delegation joined our local teams to support vulnerable communities, meet families receiving humanitarian assistance, and gain a deeper understanding of the challenges facing refugees and low-income households across Jordan.
Home to more than 2.4 million Palestinian refugees, alongside hundreds of thousands of refugees from Syria and neighbouring countries, Jordan continues to provide sanctuary for families displaced by conflict. Yet for many, rising living costs, limited employment opportunities and ongoing economic pressures mean that everyday life remains a struggle.
Packing and Distributing Food Parcels
The deployment began with a visit to one of Action For Humanity's local warehouses, where supporters worked alongside staff and volunteers to prepare food parcels filled with essential household items. The team then travelled to Jerash, where they helped distribute food parcels and emergency cash assistance to vulnerable families, providing flexible support to help meet their most urgent needs with dignity.
For many participants, meeting the families they had come to support became one of the most memorable parts of the deployment.
"The most impactful part of the deployment was meeting the families we were supporting and hearing some of their stories. Despite facing so many challenges, they welcomed us with gratitude, patience and smiles. It really put my own life into perspective and reminded me how blessed we are." – Ammaar
Supporting Women and Children in East Amman
The team also visited a women's and children's welfare centre in East Amman, which provides safe accommodation and long-term support for vulnerable families. The centre offers education, vocational training, communal facilities and welfare services designed to help women and children rebuild their lives with greater independence and confidence.
For Aakifa, spending time with the families at the centre left a lasting impression.
"Despite facing incredible challenges, they welcomed us with kindness, resilience and hope. Seeing how much a simple act of care, a conversation or practical support could mean to someone reminded me that meaningful change often comes through genuine human connection."
More Than a Deployment
While the deployment allowed supporters to assist with humanitarian projects, it also created meaningful connections between donors, volunteers and the communities they serve. One moment stood out for Aakifa.
"I'll never forget seeing the relief and gratitude on someone's face after we were able to help them by providing a food parcel, despite them arriving late. It was a powerful reminder that even small actions can have a lasting impact on another person's life."
Ammaar reflected on the impact the experience had on him personally.
"I expected to help others, but I came home feeling like I had gained even more. The experience has given me a greater appreciation for my own blessings and shown me the importance of serving others."
Thank You
Deployments like this are only possible because of the generosity of our supporters. As Ammaar shared:
"We had the privilege of seeing first-hand where your donations went, and I can honestly say they made a real difference to people's lives. We weren't just providing food or essentials—we were giving families hope, dignity and the reassurance that they haven't been forgotten."
Every donation helps deliver practical support while reassuring families that they are not alone.
