Hanya Aljamal Named AidEx Young Humanitarian of the Year 2025
Action For Humanity is beyond proud to announce that our colleague, Hanya Aljamal, has been named this year’s AidEx Young Humanitarian of the Year, a global award recognising exceptional young activists under 30 who have made a lasting impact in their communities.
As Senior Projects Coordinator in Gaza, Hanya has been at the heart of our emergency response efforts, helping deliver life-saving aid to over 900,000 people through programmes in food security, shelter, and essential relief. Working alongside our dedicated team in the region, she has continued this work even as humanitarian facilities have come under bombardment, embodying courage, compassion, and resilience in the face of unimaginable challenges.
But Hanya’s contribution goes beyond the field. Through her advocacy and storytelling, including her moving feature in the BBC Radio 4 documentary series One Week in Gaza, she has helped bring the human story of Gaza to audiences around the world.
“So often, stories from Gaza are told about Palestinians, not by them,” said one of her colleagues. “Hanya’s voice is different — nuanced, brave, and deeply human.”
Her audio diary, recorded daily from Gaza, captures moments of reflection and quiet strength from a place that has not heard silence in nearly two years. It’s a testament to the resilience of aid workers and civilians alike — those who, amid devastation, continue to protect life and dignity.

Previously recognised as a Global Shaper by the World Economic Forum, Hanya will soon begin a Master’s degree in International Human Rights Law and Criminal Justice in London, a continuation of her commitment to justice and humanity.
From Gaza to the global stage, Hanya’s work reminds us what humanitarianism truly means: to stand with others, even when the ground itself feels uncertain.
On behalf of everyone at Action For Humanity — well done, Hanya. We couldn’t be prouder.
