Lebanon Ceasefire Offers Hope, But Humanitarian Needs Remain Urgent
Humanitarian Needs Remain Urgent
Action For Humanity welcomes recent reports of a ceasefire in Lebanon. While this development offers hope to millions affected by conflict, a ceasefire must be more than a political announcement. It must provide genuine protection for civilians, unrestricted humanitarian access, and the opportunity for families to safely return home and begin rebuilding their lives.
For many communities across Lebanon, the humanitarian consequences of conflict remain severe. More than 1.3 million people have been displaced from their homes, while countless families continue to face uncertainty after damage to homes, infrastructure and essential services.
Although reports of a ceasefire provide an opportunity for recovery, humanitarian needs do not end when fighting stops. Families who have been displaced often return to communities where homes, schools, healthcare facilities and livelihoods have been severely impacted. Recovery requires sustained support, long-term investment and continued humanitarian assistance.
Action For Humanity teams have witnessed the impact of the crisis first-hand. Families continue to face significant challenges, with many relying on humanitarian assistance to meet their daily needs.

As Inam Malik, an Action For Humanity aid worker who returned from Lebanon on Tuesday, describes:
"Displacement is seen everywhere. You can’t walk down a street without seeing families who’ve lost everything. Many of the shelters are schools, now packed far beyond capacity. The humanitarian structures just aren’t able to keep up."
Despite the challenges, Action For Humanity remains committed to supporting vulnerable communities across Lebanon. Through emergency and community-based programmes, AFH continues to provide life-saving assistance including hot meals, food support and essential aid to families facing hardship.
During Ramadan alone, Action For Humanity supported more than 12,600 people across Lebanon and delivered over 12,500 hot meals. Our community kitchen continues to operate daily, serving thousands of meals to vulnerable families and helping communities cope with ongoing hardship.
A ceasefire can create a critical opportunity for humanitarian organisations to expand access to affected communities, increase assistance and support recovery efforts. However, lasting progress requires continued international engagement and meaningful support for those most affected by the crisis.
The people of Lebanon deserve more than temporary relief. They deserve safety, stability and the opportunity to rebuild their futures with dignity.
Action For Humanity will continue standing alongside vulnerable families throughout recovery and beyond.
