WHAT'S HAPPENING IN JORDAN?
As of June 2026, Jordan hosted more than 393,000 refugees registered with UNHCR, the majority from Syria. Around 80% live in towns and cities, with others living in camps including Za’atari and Azraq. For many families, displacement has lasted for years.
Two in three refugees live below the poverty line, 93% of households are in debt and more than three in four are food insecure. With employment opportunities limited, families can face impossible choices between paying rent and buying food, medicine or other essentials. Jordan continues to provide refuge and access to essential services. While voluntary returns to Syria have increased, many families are unable or not yet ready to return and continue to need protection and support.
OUR WORK IN JORDAN
Action For Humanity established its Jordan Country Office in September 2021. We support refugees from Syria, Palestine, Iraq, Yemen, Sudan and other crisis-affected countries, alongside vulnerable Jordanian families.
Our work includes food and cash assistance, support with rent and home repairs, healthcare and rehabilitation, safe water, vocational training and help for orphaned and vulnerable children. Our LIFE and LIFE+ programmes connect skills training with market access, business development and income opportunities.
The Jordan team works across several governorates and refugee communities. Staff assess each household’s circumstances and connect immediate assistance, such as rent or food support, with healthcare, training and employment opportunities where available.
