MIDDLE EAST EMERGENCY

Action For Humanity is watching with grave concern as the situation threatens to spiral even further across the Middle East. As well as the ongoing humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza, there are families in Lebanon, Yemen and other contexts across the region who currently sit in fear of an escalation engulfing them and their communities.

Our teams across the region are preparing to ramp up their humanitarian output in response to the worsening tensions. At the same time, we are doing all we can to ensure the safety and security of our ground teams.

OUR PROJECTS IN GAZA | 2024

Since last October, Action For Humanity has supported over 160,000 people in Gaza. Families, children, women, the elderly. Our dedicated team on the ground has been working to make sure we can reach injured and displaced civilians with lifesaving aid.

We've distributed over 54,000 litres of clean water to over 27,000 people. Provided meals to those with the imminent threat of starvation. We have provided essential medical care to thousands. Through our shelter efforts we have provided shelter to thousands more, with psychosocial support from children that had experienced trauma from the ongoing conflict.

RISING TENSIONS IN YEMEN

The situation in Yemen is critical, marked by ongoing violence, severe economic collapse, and a worsening humanitarian crisis.

The escalation in hostilities between Iran and Israel has heightened the risk of retaliatory strikes targeting Yemen, raising serious safety and security concerns. The security situation in Aden has deteriorated, with increased tensions between tribal and military factions leading to major demonstrations and armed exchanges.

Over 18 million people in Yemen already require aid, with 17 million facing acute food shortages. Chronic malnutrition affects nearly half of the children under five. Economic collapse has led to soaring food prices and devalued currency, with restricted access to clean water and healthcare causing disease outbreaks such as cholera.

We are preparing our teams to provide immediate food assistance, cash assistance, shelter provisions and water provision, especially in remote and rural locations. We are continuously assessing the situation, with an increased focus on child protection programmes, strengthening livelihoods and risk reduction strategies.

SUPPORT OUR EMERGENCY RESPONSE

HELP US SUPPORT THE PEOPLE OF GAZA

The death toll in Gaza has surpassed 40,000, most of them are women and children. Thousands are missing. Tens of thousands are injured. Our teams have been working around the clock to support as many people as possible. But the need is beyond our imagination.

LEBANON IS ENDURING CONSECUTIVE CRISES

A harsh economic downturn has stripped many of the ability to meet basic needs in Lebanon, leading to widespread deprivation and negative coping mechanisms.

As of March 2023, around 80% of Lebanese and non-Lebanese lived below the relative poverty line, with 36% living in extreme poverty. Recently, Lebanon has seen an increase in hostilities, with Israeli airstrikes extending beyond the southern border and targeting residential houses, shops, and civilian infrastructure.

This severe conflict endangers hundreds of refugees and thousands of residents, forcing them to flee and seek shelter, often lacking basic necessities like hygiene and food items.

Our teams are on the ground and prepared, and have been since May 2024. If the situation in Lebanon does escalate, our response will be activated within 24 hours, including:

  • Providing displaced families in the southwith ready-to-eat meals and food parcels.
  • Operating a mobile clinic in villages for internally displaced families, providing medical examinations and medicines
  • Providing potable water, water for domestic use, and distributing hygiene kits, dignity kits, and diapers.
  • Distributing blankets, mattresses, and pillows to those in need.

Please donate to assist us in our emergency response in Lebanon.

GAZA IS STILL UNDER ATTACK

Over 39,000 Palestinian lives, primarily innocent women and children, have been tragically lost in the escalation of violence in Gaza, which is now devastatingly reaching the nine-month mark. Thousands more civilians endure life- threatening injuries; the toll is predicted to escalate as the onslaught of airstrikes continue. The situation continues to deteriorate at an alarming pace, with children bearing the heaviest burden of this devastation.

We have operated in Gaza since 2021, and since the escalation in violence in October 2023, we have supported well over 160,000 people with food assistance, water, medical support, and shelter.
